Meet Maxine! Maxine is a 7-year-old African American girl who was born with Down Syndrome. Her mother and father divorced recently and now Maxine lives with her mother and infant brother, Tony. Maxine's mom works part-time at a nearby university but is looking into getting a second job because her salary does not comfortably support both Maxine and Tony.
