The first management action under discussion is the length of the hunting season. Currently, the bullfrog harvest season is closed during the months of April and May when bullfrogs breed. This protects female adults as they choose a mate and lay their eggs. Lengthening this protected period through the summer would benefit the adults that stay near the ponds to feed during the warmer months of the year. Alternatively, eliminating the season altogether would spread out harvest over 12 months instead of 9 months.
